As county mayor of the Stockholm Region my focus has been on the pandemic over the past 16 months. Securing resources to our ICU units to meet the extreme number of patients needing health care and pressing down the transmission of the virus has been my main objectives. However, now when the vaccine is about to take us out of the worst phase, it is time to look ahead. By the end of the summer, it is time to restart our economies again. If we in the Stockholm Region is to maintain our competitiveness, the work must begin now. We will do everything we can to prevent the recession and unemployment from becoming the next pandemic by initiating new reforms and political initiatives.
